My life started when I was born on December 30th 2003. For the duration of my life, me and my parents lived in Slough, we stayed there for two years then my mum wanted to move house. We decided to go and live in Edmonton, and this was a massive change for me as I was young and I had no experience of going to new places. But my house moving routine doesn’t end there, as I moved to Gap Road. During my years as a child, I started to get lonely living by myself, that’s until my sister and brother were born. After I had a sister and brother, I started school in Garfield Primary School.

If I had to choose my worst fear, it would be school because it’s a place to be social. School was not what I thought it was, it was caring. There were no bullies and I made lots of friends, and I realised there were adults that I could go to if I had a problem. I actually enjoyed school and I loved learning about new subjects every time.

I started to progress in school, then in year 4, my friend showed me a game called Minecraft. Now back then, I was a game enthusiast and I was very eager to play Minecraft. After I played this game, I wanted to mark this moment as a memory for me because I knew in the future I would look back to that day and realise how much fun this was.

The most emotional time of my life was my last year in school. It was heart breaking to see all my friends leave and go to different schools. However, one of my teachers said ”That’s how life works and we have to deal with whatever comes next”. That gave me a boost of confidence in my mind. For my summer, my family and I went to Algeria, where I saw my grandparents for the first time. Meeting my grandparents was a very happy moment of my life as they taught me new things and showed me awesome places such as a giant tower! The country was great as I went exploring new parts of the area had eaten different food for the first time.

Four weeks later, I started my first day in the London Nautical School. I felt exactly the same as I did in my primary school but just like my teacher said: “That’s how life works and we have to deal with whatever comes next”. Now I am on my second term at high school and so far, I have fitted in just right. I still have problems but I also know that there are more adults that I can go to if I have a troubling situation.

One of my favourite sessions were when I went on nautical to sail boats. I loved every minute of it and I realised that this is my place. I’ve realised that this the beginning of a great adventure and that it won’t end for a long time.

Beowulf and my Quote by Ismail

6th November, 2015

We learnt about shield and how English was different at the olden times.

I never heard before of a ship so well furnished with battle tackle, blades.

I chose this quote because this is the first sentence that has first person in it and I am wondering if this is from someone’s perspective or if the writer is expressing his feelings and thoughts when he tried to translate the poem of Beowulf. Therefore, I chose to interpret my opinion by writing what I think. I think that a monk or pope may have written that poem and what he saw might be from his perspective.
